Battery electric vehicles

Battery electric vehicles and hybrid electric vehicles can contribute significantly to the reduction of emissions and primary energy demand in the transport sector. Key component is the battery system, where current technological advancement is focusing on a reduction of cost and weight and an increase in lifetime and capacity (i.e. the vehicle's (electric) range).

In cooperation with partners from the industry and research institutions ZBT is working on the optimization of electrodes for Li-ion batteries with an emphasis on energy- and power density, lifetime/durability and material selection/cost. ZBT offers partners the following engineering services:

Engineering services

  • Development of Li-ion battery electrodes in different geometries for lab evaluation
  • Physical characterization of electrodes
  • Electrochemical cell testing up to 5 A / 6 V
  • Impedance spectroscopy of cells and semi-cells
